Frankenstein’s monster, otherwise known as Prometheus Frankenstein, Adam Frankenstein or Luficer Frankenstein, is a fictional character from Mary Shelley’s 1818 novelFrankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus.
He is a humanoid replicant who is created by another character in the novel called Victor Frankenstein. The creature has no name in popular culture but is sometimes named "creature", "fiend", "spectre", "fiend", "wretch", "insect", "demon", "ogre", "being", "thing" or "it".
In the novel, Victor creates the human-like monster in the upstairs room of his apartment at the University of Ingolstadt.
